upyear asked: nikon or canon?
No! Not the infamous camera debacle!
I love them both and we have both brands, but I’ve got to go with Nikon just because I’m more familiar with Nikon cameras.
Kind of obsessed with this. I need one. Especially because Nikon > Canon. Just saying.

I don’t know if you follow PostSecret, it’s a blog about confessions run by a man in Maryland. People from all over the country and even the world send him a secret on a post card and he chooses from the thousands he receives each week to post a few dozen on his website every Sunday. Some are funny, but some do contain mature content and ideas, so if that makes you uncomfortable, be warned. My first year on staff we loved the Post Secret idea so much, we did a spread with confessions on postcards sent in by students.
This week I looked and saw a secret that reminded me of a “You know you’re a yerd when” post, so I thought I would share this really cool social experiment.

If you haven’t already heard of Humans of New York (HONY), I highly recommend checking it out. This is his Facebook, Tumblr, and website. Brandon, the owner, goes out everyday on the streets of New York to find the most interesting people and stories. It’s amazing to see what he uncovers with just a camera and a couple questions. I don’t know about you guys, but I want his interview skills. Except with Brandon, it’s more of a conversation, not an interview. That’s what photojournalism should be about.

Lately the yearbook online world has flourished with the release of Stitch, www.ybklove.tumblr.com, www.letsmakeayearbook.tumblr.com and now, yerdyteacher.wordpress.com.
The adviser from the Legacy yearbook staff and Tiger Tribune created a blog full of tips and tricks ranging topics from photography vocabulary to his own staff’s celebrations. Open the link up in a new tab, scroll through and then bookmark it- you’ll probably want to check back from time to time. Or, you can stay updated through the Twitter.
Also, like THIS page on Facebook and I’ll do something you guys want me to do. Send me suggestions. P.S. If you are from Cupertino and liked the page, the reps slightly freaked out- so much yerd love, it’s scary!
